  • Nothing Special - by Kathleen Fox

The children crankily crawl out of bed and trail slowly into the dark living room. “Why so sad?” one of the parents ask. “Why should we be happy? It’s Sunday. Nothing special.” the oldest boy Matt says. “You forgot about Easter didn’t you?” his mom says walking over to the light. “Isn’t that in six sleeps?” the youngest girl Jamie pipes. “No.” their mom says. She flips the light on. The room bursts with colour. Three blow up Easter bunnies are scattered across the couches. Some are big, some are small. • Seeing Through You - by Kathleen Fox

People constantly taping my screen, To be honest, it’s really quite mean. They load me up with terrible tunes, Then to top it off make me stream for continuous afternoons. Just something to cross out, I don’t serve some great importance they can’t live without. I just am, there love isn’t extended. That sly little harlot is a drifter, She is a huntress, plucking when she’s young. She slides in skins like a slippery shifter. Her name, a pretty one, to be unsung.
