I am a 27 year old who is passionate about the environment, my local community, and my Doukhobour heritage. I am so happy to be able to live, work and play in this wonderful Basin. I could not imagine being anywhere else; I love it here.

- My Baba and the Columbia River -
My Baba (grandma) and Deda (grandpa) grew up in the Castlegar area alongside the Columbia River. My Deda grew up in Ootinchenia and my Baba grew up in Blagodatnoye. Pronounced “blah-ha-dat-nia”, it is the land half way between Castlegar and Trail on the other side of the river, opposite the highway. It is also frequently called Poupor. My Baba was born on this land and lived there with her family and other Doukhobour families.
