Lydia Henderson
apostrophe, grieving, loss, love

To My Grandma

In life I couldn’t think of what to say
now all I can think of is “stay”
I don’t want you to go
there’s a better place for you though

I wouldn’t presume to tell you what it’s like
perhaps a sugar mountain for you to hike
for sure there will be lillies and sun
an all those who love you, we’ll have fun

I wish that place was here with us
where we can laugh and play and fuss
I wish, I wish, I wish you could wish
wish away the here and now and cast one more wish

I wish in life I had thought of something to say
something more than just, “stay”
I still don’t want you to go
there’s a better place for you though

I love you
