In the shadows he lies
my eyes don’t resist to trace the outline of his face
I feel in place next to his body.
I breathe him in.
The evening swells with admiration, I watch him breathe,
soothing to the heart I plead for the continuance of breath,
lull me to sleep, lull me to sleep,
In his arms I rest.
Dissolving into the silence, sleep bonds me there,
rhythmatic beating of hearts; possessions we share.
Fear out of sight
so I sleep, so I sleep,
his soul gaurds me in the night
His I keep.
May his worries cease with the birth of a new day,
may his heart find peace with believeing
without the guidence of prayer.
Let our thoughts gain solace within the shades of blue,
carved as crystal in our starving eyes.
Watch our future spread like wild gardens do,
our past paved behind us,
weighty minds, weighty minds.
Skies stain with crimson once again, a fire burns behind mountain tops
his eyes close next to mine as darkness settles in,
light dissipates; vanishing with our worrisome thoughts.
My eyes watch his heavy chest, rise and fall under the weight of my arm,
exhausted with the days illustrations stored under their lids
we drift amidst, we drift amidst.
And here we sway from the world and its weight,
possibilities of freedom; our limitations recede
in his arms I am in tranquility, deep,
in his arms I am freed.
Oblivion is sweet.
Oblivion is sweet.
He bathes me in serenity, as the sun bleaches the land with its blinding light
our crystal eyes open once again, shall we welcome the new day,
or pray for night?
I pray for night.
