Rossland, Ross, Vegas
For the past numerous years, I hear people call my hometown of scenic Rossland “Ross Vegas.” I am sick and tired of people calling my personal Valhalla something to do with gambling and the Mafia. Let me clear a few things up about Rossland.
First off, there is no CASINOS in Rossland and the only thing that has the Vegas feel in Rossland is places that sells pull tabs, scratch tickets and Keno. Second off, when is the last time you seen a big name musician in a Rossland? I don’t know when the last time was. And third, we have no Elvis impersonators in Rossland, therefore we are not Vegas.
Also, I would like people saying that they live in Rossland when they are Instant Messaging people from another country on Skype or MSN and they automatically say Las Vegas. It’s pretty easy to say “My name us (insert name here) and I am from Rossland, British Columbia.” In other words, Rosslanders, you are ambassadors of Rossland and tell people that you are from a small Canadian community that has little or no big companies ruining the wilderness surrounding your hometown and on main street.
