Sadye Butler
The mysterious molten center
Beats
Erupts
On a Friday night
Still air
Cigarette smoke
A transparent heart
On the curb
Abandoned
Broken
I watch as its limbs recoil in the rain
A murderous action
One of death
That spills a drop of my mind
As I travel down a tunnel
It awakes
Beats twice
Then falls back to the sidewalk
Reaches out for a hand that I cannot offer
It receives no air
Mist
Rain
And I watch
The last beat
The heart full of broken dreams
Lost love letters
Lies still
My eyes disobey my mind
Listening to my heart
They cry
And my tears sing
A ragged
Broken
Lullaby
I glance at the organ on the curb
Lifeless
Once vital
I watch as all it holds
Spills over the curb
Runs down the street
I walk up to the mysterious liquid
And stare at my reflection
I am broken
Ragged
Heartless.
