love poem late night
Under the moonlight, in the company of a million stars,
4 AM in faded denim, noises of night were sparse,
There I stood, barely over five feet small,
You hovered above me, about 6 feet tall,
You cradled me as I lay on your chest,
Escaping our past fates, of loneliness,
The perfect rhythm in your heartbeat, it never skips a note,
I listened to your steady breath, as I felt my soul afloat,
Your hand lay carefully yet perfectly in mine,
That touch will forever send electricity down my spine,
Your words are the sweetest of poetry - they’re effortless, as if rehearsed,
After looking into your eyes, negative thoughts would disperse,
When your the inspiration, words are written with ease,
And when you hold me close, all doubts seem to release,
I love the feeling - the anticipation - as you lean in,
And the soft look on your face as you take you hand to sweetly lift my chin,
So as we smile at each other on the grassy hill - sharing the same emotion in our eyes,
As we take our first steps forward as the world around us is still - our unhappiness quickly dies,
And our future commences to fly
