Creek Song

The creek soothes me to sleep
rushing so steady, so constant, so soft and firm
calming yet exhilarating
trying to describe what’s best left unsaid
this essence, this beauty, this serenity,
Surrender
let go of the mind’s chatter
hear the creek
as she tumbles, froths, rounding rocks
her song simple, eternal
life sustaining
carry our worries away
our seeds to fertile soils
do your waters rejoice when you meet the lake?
a long ago friend?
you’ve been here before
another life time, another cycle
Here. Now, again
a second of forever
dip, dip, little grey dipper
dip, dip, dunk
is that fallen log your home?
it’s beautiful!
so perfect this place, this moment
golden green moss cloaks, almost everything
if I sat here long enough, maybe me too
if I lay down to die
upon this carpet
a blanket would grow over my bones one day
but for now life like this creek
flows through my veins
through my feet and hands and head
a conduit from the cosmos to the earth
and somewhere in between my soul, body, and mind reside

discovering a balance,
a peace.
